To those who know it, Waterrock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Western NC, is a special place in all seasons.  The elevation is 5820 feet, the view is almost panoramic, the hike is about an hour and rigorous (top is at 6292 feet), and the Ranger Station which is open May to October (restrooms, info, souvenirs), is delightful. An evening picnic and a tripod for that special sunset - youth groups welcome- make for a great memory. *Dogs really need to be agile for the hike and must be on a 6-foot-or-less leash. The trail is strenuous.  A great half day adventure for those ON-THE-GO!
